As less people are making the move and increasingly looking to renovate, Gyproc, Isover and Weber have responded to an increased need from consumers for the best solution to create a comfortable living environment and protect their home against rising energy bills thus increasing their value by helping houses achieve higher energy ratings.

Since the demise of the Celtic Tiger Irish homes have seen plummeting values, which has led to less movement of householders to new homes and negative equity as an increasing problem. This phenomenon has given rise to more homeowners investing into energy proofing their houses through Government sponsored retrofit programmes which will see the cost of heating homes fall. Ireland currently has about 1.8 million homes with an estimated 70% (or just over 1.2 million) of these needing to boost their energy ratings to the A and B BER standards according to Irish environment sustainability experts. This huge figure has come about through poor build design over the past few decades and especially during the recent boom years coupled with rapidly rising energy costs driven by dwindling availability of fossil fuels.
