Project Background

Pipers Hill timber frame housing project is a large housing development in Naas, Co. Kildare where timber frame construction is being used for the development. These houses are exclusive properties of 3,4 & 5 bedroom houses in an exclusive location.

The Challenge

The requirement from the main contractors was for plasterboard that provided adequate grounds for fixing kitchen units directly to rather than using plywood and plasterboard. This would allow more efficiency on site in terms of installation.

The Approach

Gyproc Habito plasterboard provided a solution whereby it was fixed to the timber studs in place of plywood and plaster skimmed. This allowed for the kitchen units to be fixed directly to Gyproc Habito plasterboard. This would mean a reduction in the labour involved for the carpenters on site as one sheet of Gyproc Habito plasterboard was being used rather than plywood and standard plasterboard.

“We decided to try the new Gyproc Habito plasterboard as a one board option in place of plywood due to the fixing strength of Gyproc Habito and general durability of the plasterboard. This worked well for us and reduced the amount of time spent on installation and provided a cost saving on materials used also.”
