Community Update – 17.02.2024

Following our routine surveying  program Gyproc has detected a crown hole on the survey flown yesterday 16th February. The crownhole was detected on Gyproc lands close to the location of a previous depression notified in December 2021.
The crownhole is estimated at 11m in diameter, is 380 metres from the nearest residence and 370m from the nearest road. The location is fenced and secured.
Gyproc has informed the relevant authorities and will inspect and investigate the crownhole following the agreed protocols.

Community Update – 27.04.2022

27th April 2022

Gyproc have been progressing with the development of a new playing pitch for Magheracloone Mitchells GFC at a site adjacent to the R179. As part of the development the road will be widened outside the site and a right hand turning lane is being installed to allow traffic to safely enter and exit the site. The roadworks are expected to take up to 6 days and are planned to commence on the 3rd May. During the roadworks, it will be necessary to slow traffic and adopt a stop-go system to facilitate the work. We appreciate your patience while the work is being done.

  1. April 2021 – Works to replace the senior playing pitch for Magheracloone GAA commenced in 2021. The playing pitch was seeded in August 2021, the dressing rooms and site infrastructure is currently under construction and it is expected that the facility will be available to host games by September 2022.

As part of our ongoing monitoring of the old Drumgoosat mine workings and in particular the surface depression we reported on December 14th a crownhole of 10.8m has developed at the edge of this area. The crownhole is on Gyproc lands and is located 330 metres from the nearest private home and 300 metres from the nearest road which is the R179.

Keeping the Community informed

 

  1. April 2021 – Works to replace the senior playing pitch for Magheracloone GAA commenced in 2021. The playing pitch was seeded in August 2021, the dressing rooms and site infrastructure is currently under construction and it is expected that the facility will be available to host games by September 2022.
  2. September 2021 – Gyproc, Magheracloone Community Centre and Magheracloone Mitchells GFC held a community information event in Nuremore Hotel & Country Club with over 200 people from the local community in attendance.  The event gave residents
